At The London Women’s Shiatsu Clinic, we aim to:
- work with women of all ages to provide holistic care and treatment.
- facilitate deep healing.
- encourage a preventative approach to health and wellbeing.
- work with your other healthcare providers to encourage an integrated approach and to enhance existing medical treatment.
- provide a safe and supportive environment for powerful personal transformation and deep healing of emotional blockages.
- refer to other practitioners and specialties where appropriate.
The London Women’s Shiatsu Clinic was born out of the desire to provide women a holistic service. The services we provide can be integrated with other forms of healthcare or can be used as a stand alone treatment. All too often, women are dissatisfied with conventional medicine; in the process of ‘fixing’ the physical problem, women often feel that they’re emotional and spiritual wellbeing is cast to the side by medical staff. We believe that your emotional and spiritual health directly impacts on your physical health, and more often than not, is the direct cause of the physical problems which are being manifested in the body.
You do not have to be ill to access the services on offer. In fact Shiatsu is used as a powerful preventative tool in health and can have profound effects on any aspect of one’s life. Whether it be wishing to prevent ill health and celebrate your good health, or whether it is to heal physical, emotional and spiritual disharmonies or blockages that are arising in the body, Shiatsu has been used for thousands of years as a preventative treatment.
Shiatsu not only comes from thousands of years of theory with the use of acupressure points, meridians, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Zen theory, but it uses compassionate and therapeutic touch which allows for deep healing on all levels; physical, emotional and spiritual. Touch which is both compassionate and respectful has been shown in research to reduce pain, increase immune function and lower stress levels. Psychoneuroimmunology (or mind-body medicine), a well respected branch of medical science has explored the links between how our emotional and psychological health effects our physical health. Shiatsu puts this theory into practice beautifully as it provides you with an ancient system of healing alongside therapeutic touch to work with the energy of the body providing a powerful and potent combination.
As a mature medical student training to be a doctor and hoping to specialise in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, my vision is to provide an integrative approach to women’s healthcare. That is to work with women not just to treat their physical ills, but to work to empower women to access a range of complementary therapies that can improve their health, wellbeing and ultimately their lives. Conventional medicine doesn’t provide all the answers, and neither does complementary medicine, but with these two modalities working together and complementing eachother, women can access the best of both worlds and enter into a first-class system of treatment and healing.
